A Rainbow of Love: A Pet Sympathy Card with Layered Die Cuts

Losing a beloved pet leaves a space in our hearts that never truly disappears.

Today’s project is a heartfelt pet sympathy card design that combines bright hope with gentle remembrance. The colorful rainbow peeking through soft layered clouds symbolizes the love and memories that remain long after our furry friends have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

For this project, I reached for beautiful cardstock from CutCardStock to create crisp die-cut layers and vibrant rainbow colors that really pop against the clean white clouds.

Supplies Used

Instructions

1. Create the Background

Trim a piece of Cougar White Smooth cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4 inches. Using a blending tool, softly ink the upper portion with a blue ink, fading toward the center to create a peaceful sky.

2. Die Cut the Rainbow

Cut each section of the rainbow with circle dies from a different color of CutCardStock cardstock:

Cut each section in half. Adhere to the ink-blended background.

3. Die Cut the Clouds

Die cut several cloud borders from  Cougar White Smooth and Curious Translucent Clear cardstock.

4. Stamping

Stamping is done on the cloud die cut that will go on the bottom of the card. The sentiment “In Our Hearts Always” goes in the lower right corner using black ink.

Also, stamp a trail of paw prints beginning near the dog and leading down toward the lower corner of the card. This simple detail helps guide the eye across the design while reinforcing the heartfelt theme.

Layer the clouds across the lower half of the card using a combination of flat adhesive and foam tape. Varying the height of the layers creates wonderful depth and gives the scene a soft, dreamy appearance.

4. Add the Dog Silhouette

Die cut the dog silhouette from black cardstock and tuck it behind one of the cloud layers so it appears to be sitting peacefully among the clouds.

Add the background piece to a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch black card base cut from a piece of Lessebo Pitch Blackcardstock.

Finishing Touches

Cut a piece of Cougar White Smooth cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4 inches. Stamp a heart with a paw print on the lower right corner. This piece will go on the inside of the card.

This design relies on contrast rather than embellishments. The bright rainbow against the soft blue sky, layered white clouds, and bold black silhouette create an elegant composition that allows the sentiment to shine. Using quality cardstock from CutCardStock ensures clean die cuts, vibrant color, and sturdy layers that make the dimension stand out beautifully.

Whether you’re creating this card for a friend or keeping it on hand for when words are hard to find, it’s a thoughtful reminder that the love we share with our pets is forever carried in our hearts.

Thanks for taking a look at my pet sympathy card project.

Craft Roulette Inspired Belated Birthday Card

Sometimes the best creative ideas come from a fun challenge!
Today's card was inspired by the parameters from
Craft Roulette Episode #326
which encouraged me to mix a playful image with
bold layers for a lighthearted belated birthday design.

I used products from

I started with a striped paper from the Savanna Neutrals Paper Pad for my background.
A check paper from the Vintage Americana Paper Pack was cut with
one of the dies from the Banner Die Set.
The colors of these papers and the solid card stock I've used meet
the "sleigh ride" colors parameter.

For the focal point, I stamped, colored and fussy cut
one of the images from the Food Coma Ready Stamps.
The image is a turkey, so the "farm critter" parameter is met.

The oversized greeting was created with the Dang, Whoa Yikes! Word and Shadow Dies,
making the sentiment the star of the card. I drew stitching onto the letters
with a fine brown felt pen to meet the "pen" parameter.

I finished the card off with the stamped phrase,
"I'm Sorry I Missed Your Birthday,"
for a playful apology that's sure to bring a smile.

The overall design and products used definitely are more along masculine lines,
so the "dude's card" parameter is met.

Craft Roulette challenges are always a great way to stretch your creativity,
and this combination of products came together to create
a cheerful belated birthday card that's both fun and memorable.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Paws, Photos & Precious Memories: Pet Scrapbook Layout

Our pets leave paw prints on our hearts, and what better way to celebrate those special memories than with a scrapbook layout that showcases their playful personalities? Today’s project is a layout featuring some favorite photos of a lovable pup paired with adorable chipboard embellishments from Clear Scraps that add just the right finishing touches.

For the base of the layout, I chose warm neutral patterned papers layered with rich red paw print paper to create a cozy backdrop.

Matting each photo with black cardstock helps the images stand out while tying together the black accents throughout the page.

The fun details are what really bring this layout to life! I used the  Treats (pets) Chipboard Punchout Embellishments, including the sweet paw print, bone, and the “Love Has 4 Paws” sentiment. These lightweight chipboard pieces add dimension without overwhelming the design and perfectly complement the pet theme.

I painted the chipboard pieces with acrylic paint.

To finish the page, I arranged the embellishments around the photos, helping guide the eye across the layout while leaving plenty of the adorable pictures as the focal point. The combination of patterned papers, layered mats, and dimensional chipboard creates a balanced design that’s both playful and heartfelt.

Whether you’re documenting a new puppy, celebrating a longtime companion, or preserving memories of a beloved pet, the Clear Scraps Treats (pets) Chipboard Punchout Embellishments make it easy to add charming details that tell your story.

Summer Scene Building with Ink Blending, Stenciling, Stenciling & Die Cuts

It’s Summer Week at Pajama Crafter Stamps! This is the perfect excuse to create a peaceful outdoor scene! The whole design team will be showcasing summer themed projects all week! So be sure and check them out.

For today’s card, we’ll be combining ink blending, stenciling, die cuts and fun stamps to build a whimsical landscape that captures fishing on a lazy summer day.

Stenciling

Start by creating the background with the Casted Net Stencil. Soft ink blending on white card stock over the stencil adds just the right amount of texture while keeping the design light and airy. To help with smooth blending use Awesome Sauce.

The subtle net pattern will provide interest without overpowering the rest of the scene.

Inking, Stamping and Die Cutting

Next, cut a piece of white card stock about 4 1/4 inches square.

Use blending tools to layer inks creating a bright summer sky, calm water and shorelines.

For the landscape, use the Scalloped Border Die to create rolling hills from card stock.

Layering the hills instantly adds dimension and provides the perfect place to build the rest of the scene. Stamp trees from the Sliding By Stamp and Die Set, color, die cut, and tuck behind the hills to create the illusion of distance.

Stamp, color and fussy cut the images from the I Wanna Be Like You Stamps as the focal, bringing the entire scene to life. Layering the stamped images over the ink-blended background and die-cut landscape creates a fun, storybook feel that invites the viewer into the scene.

Mat the completed scene panel.

Complete the Card Design

Create a 5 x 6 1/2 inch card base.

Cut a matting panel to 4 3/4 x 6 1/4 inches.

Trim the panel with stenciling to 4 5/8 x 6 1/8 inches. Stamp the sentiment in the bottom right corner.

Adhere the matting and panel with stenciling to the card base.

Add the scene panel to the card at a slight angle.

Scene-building cards are a great way to combine several techniques into a single project. By mixing stenciling, ink blending, layered die cuts and stamped images, it’s easy to create a card with depth, dimension and plenty of summertime charm.

Happy 4th of July

 Happy 4th of July!
The U.S. is celebrating it's 250th birthday today and
I have created a quick and easy card to mark the occasion.

I have used products from

The sweet Flower Child stamp was colored with Prismacolor pencils and fussy cut.
I foiled the flashcard.

My card base measures 5 x 6 1/2 inches.
I cut a piece of dark blue card stock to cover the front.
One of the Vintage Americana papers was layered onto the blue.
The flashcard which measures 4 1/44 x 5 1/5 was mattted with red glitter card stock.
I popped my sweet Flower Child onto the card with foam tape.
My card is complete.

Happy 4th of July!
Have a great weekend!

Let Freedom Ring Card

Happy Wednesday!
And a new month too!

With the United States celebrating 250 years in a few days I
am sharing a patriotic card created with inspiration from
the latest episode of Craft Roulette.

And, I just had to use a cute stamp set from

CR parameters for Episode #325

So, I think there are many forms of "Flip Fold" cards and mine
seems to be a little different than most I've seen in the gallery
for this episdoe. This one is an accordion fold card,
but the panels do flip when opening the card.
The card base was die cut with Create-A-Card dies from Crafter's Companion.

I used red and blue as my Tartan colors.

My "Have a Yankee Doodle Day" sentiment does
include a measurement of time (day) to meet the
element parameter, but I included a clock that was  cut
from an embossed panel. for good measure.

For the Add a Bow parameter I drew little bow ties on my characters!

There you have it, a fun little patriotic card.
I hope all of you celebrating here in the US
have a great and safe holiday weekend!
