Z Fold Pop Up Card

Hey there! Today I'm sharing my latest project for CutCardStock

I love making pop up cards! They are fairly easy to put together and can be made it a variety of styles. This one is a Z fold design and since it’s May I decided on a graduation theme.

Start with a base

I have used Basis NAVY 80lb Cardstock. It is cut to 10 x 6 1/2 inches and scored at 2 1/2 and 5 inches. Create a mountain fold on the 2 1/2 inch score line and a valley fold on the 5 inch line.

This will create a 5 x 6 1/2 inch card when flattened.

Choose coordinating card stock and/or papers

I chose to go with light blue and white colors using Blue Classics Digi Doodles Digi Paper Pack from  Digi Doodle Studios printed on Basis WHITE 80lb Cardstock

Add patterned paper to base

Cut 2 pieces of paper to 2 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches and one piece to 4 3/4 x 6 1/4 inches. Adhere to base, centering on each panel

Create a band

This band piece will go along the bottom of the base. It measures 1 x 10 inches and is cut from the  Basis NAVY 80lb Cardstock. It scored at 5 and 7 1/2 inches. I matted with 1 piece of patterned paper measuring 3/4 x 4 3/4inches and 2 pieces measuring 3.4 x 2 1/4 inches.

Adhere to the lower edge of the card base as shown below.

Pop Up Tabs

You’ll need something to attach the pop up piece to. Cut 2 pieces of 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch from Basis NAVY 80lb Cardstock. Score at 1/2 and 3 inches. Use a mountain fold on one end and valley fold on the other. Attach inside the center of the band piece as shown below.

Die Cutting

I chose to use 5 die sets and a sentiment die for my card elements. A variety of items were cut from the Basis NAVY 80lb CardstockBasis WHITE 80lb Cardstockand Basis LIGHT BLUE 80lb Cardstock.

Adding Elements

Begin adding the die cut pieces.

Finishing

Add acetate strips to the die cuts that will be added to the pop up tabs with double sided tape. Finish by adhering all pieces in place.

I hope you have enjoyed my project using Basis Card Stocks. They are this month’s monthly special so be sure and check them out HERE!

Floating By

Hi there!
Today I have 2 cards being featured over on the

These cards were created using one of this month's new release digi sets available in the

When you purchase this digital set you will receive a zip file containing:
- 3 black and white line drawings
- 3 full colour images
- 6 word images / sentiments

I colored the digis on both cards with Prismacolor Pencils and fussy cut.

The background of the first card was done with stenciling the sky. I printed the sentiment over
the stenciling. I used  "hill" die and cut aqua card stock for the waves, adding little white gel pen.
I used a punched circle for the sun and hand cut the sun rays.

I chose a simple design for the second card.
The sentiment was printed on my white card stock background.
I added 2 strips of aqua card stock and 3 layered stickers from my stash.

I hope you check this set out.
And visit the Beccy's Place Blog for lots more inspiration!

Coloring on Black Card Stock

Have you ever done any coloring on black card stock? It’s not one of the easiest things to do but can be very effective with the right materials.

Hey there! It’s Judy VZ here and I’m sharing my latest project for CutCardStock. It’s a Father’s Day card I created by coloring on black card stock with metallic pencils.

I started by doing some stamping with VersaMark watermark ink onto a piece of Basis BLACK 80lb Cardstock. Clear embossing powder was used to heat emboss the stamped images.

Color is added with metallic pencils by coloring inside of the embossed lines.

A 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card base was made with a piece of the Basis BLACK 80lb Cardstock. I cut a piece of Basis WHITE 80lb Cardstock to 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 inches. The colored panel measures approximately 5 1/8 x 5 1/8 inches.

The Basis White Card Stock was adhered to the black card base. I added a rectangular strip of black and white striped card stock from Christmas Holiday Print 6×6 Card Stock pad – Assortment – 18 sheets. My stamped and colored piece was torn around the edges for a little texture and adhered to the card center. The sentiment was die cut using the Basis BLACK 80lb Cardstock. This was glued to a strip of the Basis White Card Stock and fussy cut.

The sentiment was adhered with foam tape across the stamped piece and I added 3 black enamel dots to finish.

I hope you have enjoyed my project today and give coloring on black card stock a try!
