Craft Roulette Episode #341: Twisted Easel Christmas Card with Pajama Crafter Stamps

Looking for a fun and creative handmade Christmas card idea? 

This twisted easel Christmas card features an adorable holiday critter from Pajama Crafter Stamps, 

an earthy Christmas color palette, and an interactive fold that makes this card extra special! 

Inspired by Craft Roulette Episode #341, this festive card combines a two-fold card design, planet-inspired colors, a beautiful element, and a wonky twist. 

The Squirrelly Christmas Stamps and sentiments, pine boughs and 

pine cones from Rustic Christmas Owl Stamps come together to create a playful 

Christmas card that’s perfect for sharing a little handmade holiday cheer.

The twisted easel design meets the Card with 2 folds parameter.

I used "earthy" colors to meet Planets colors.

My Beautiful elements are those I used from nature, ie, the squirrel,

pine boughs and pine cones.

For the random parameters Wonky - the squirrel image is upside down and

I added wonky frames, with one tilted.

Craft Roulette challenges cardmakers to think outside the box and 

use creative parameters to inspire their projects. 

Episode #341 was a fun opportunity to combine a two-fold card design, planet-inspired colors,

 a beautiful element and a wonky twist into one festive handmade creation.

Blue Christmas Tags

Hey all! It’s Judy here with my latest project created for Clear Scraps.

I am using 4 of the #10 tags. 

Chipboard Rounded #10 Tags, Chipboard Pentagon #10 Tags, Acrylic Scallop #10 Tags, Acrylic Angle #10 Tags

I used the 6” Quarterfoil Stencil on 1 of the tags

My last project shared here on the blog was a Blue Christmas Tag Box and I wanted to create coordinating tags. And I wanted to make them with Prima Dolls, which I stamped and paper pieced.

The Chipboard Tags were traced onto the backside of patterned papers, cut and adhered. I did cover both sides.

I then added some fussy cut pieces from the patterned papers and die cuts. The Prima Dolls were added along with die cut sentiments. I added sequins to one of the tags and some gems to the other. Ribbons were added.

For the Acrylic Tags, I removed the protective film and added acrylic paint to the backside. 

The 1st tag has some stenciling and I added a patterned paper strip and fussy cut flowers.
The sentiment was fussy cut. I added ribbons.

The frontside of the 2nd tag has a layered die cut oval, fussy cut flowers and a die cut sentiment. Ribbons were added.

Blue Christmas Tag Box

Hi there! It’s Judy here with my latest inspiration project created for Clear Scraps.

Clear Scraps came out with some fabulous new products last month and I’m using 3 of them for this Blue Christmas Tag Box.

The new products I’m using are the DIY Wood Rounded Tag Box, Pine Trees Embellishments and Vintage Frames Chipboard Embellishments.

I decided to paint my box with a blue metallic acrylic paint. So, I did this to all the individual pieces.

Use wood glue to construct the box.

Some patterned papers were pulled out to add. I started by applying one of the papers to the front and sides of the box.

Other elements were pulled from my stash to add, wash tape and beaded garland.

I adhered the washi tape to the top edge of the patterned paper on the front and sides.

Patterned papers were picked out for both sides of the back of the box and trace.

Cut and adhere the traced papers to back of box.

With the box being decorated with paint and patterned papers, it’s time to add some embellishments. I add color to the chipboard trees with a green sparkle pen. Silver gilding wax is applied to the frame chipboard piece.

Adhere beading to the top edge of the front and side of the box.

I stamped and heat embossed “Merry Christmas” and glued behind the Chipboard frame. Adhere to the front. I also added some flowers fussy cut from patterned paper.

I added the chipboard trees to the back along with some fussy cut pieces and snowflake gems.

Bee House Junk Journal

Junk journaling is not something I’ve done before, but with the new junk journal covers from Clear Scraps I can see myself making many journals.

Hi there! It’s Judy here with a Bee themed junk journal project.

I am using the Large House Journal Cover.  This cover measures approximately 7.0 x 10.5 x 2.0  inches. It is the perfect cover for all your junk or folio cover albums. Made from thick laser cut chipboard that will last over time. Be sure to see the website for a PDF template to create binding page holes. Comes with a binding needle and wax thread.

I started by taking tracing the front and back covers onto the backside of solid colored card stock. Trace each side of both covers so you have pieces to cover the outside and inside.

Next I cut a piece of the same card stock for the spine. This piece was cut the same length of the spine and 5 inches wide. Adhere the chipboard spine to the center of the card stock piece. Score along the spine edges.

Adhere the spine to covers. Leave a very narrow space between the spine and the front and back covers. Apply the card stock pieces cut earlier to the outside of the cover.

I printed some patterned papers from a digital junk journal kit.  2 pieces were cut slightly smaller than the width and height of the front and back covers. A piece was cut to cover the spine and wrap to the front and back.

Adhere patterned paper to front and back. Add the paper cut for the spine. I decided to cut some narrow strips to cover the edges of the papers on the front and back and the top of the spine.

Cover the inside of the journal with the solid color card stock cut earlier.

Patterned papers were added to the inside covers.

I used some patterned card stock from my stash that coordinated with the junk journal papers used to make covers for 3 signatures. The covers measure approximately 1/4 inch smaller than the covers.

These were put together with a mixture of different papers in various sizes.  Each signature was sewn into the cover. I covered the center of each signature, where sewn, with paper bags which are folded to form pockets.

Embellishments were added to the front cover. I added a piece of card stock to the spine to cover where the signatures were sewn.
