Create Dimension with Layered Patterns
One of my favorite techniques for creating a handmade card is layering patterned papers.
Rather than using one pattern for the background, three papers from
the Autumn Whispers Paper Pad are used.
Multiple layers introduce different colors and patterns into the design.
When layering patterned paper, I like to vary the size of each piece and
leave narrow borders between the layers.
This creates definition between the patterns
without overwhelming the focal point of the card.
Add Decorative Edges with Dies
The Stitched Scalloped Border Dies are an easy way to add
The scalloped border helps break up the straight edge of
one of the patterned paper layers.
It adds a soft, decorative touch that complements the fall theme.
Also, punching rounded corners on the 2 smaller panels make for additional interest.
Finishing the Card
Cut 2 banners with the Banner Die Set.
Stamp a sentiment from All American Girl Stamps onto one.
Banner shapes are a great way to incorporate sentiments
while also adding another layer to the overall card design.
The Flower Child focal image is colored with Ohuhu markers,
fussy cut and added to the card.
The last piece added was a corner from Fancy Corners.
The combination of layered patterned papers, decorative die-cut borders,
a stamped focal image and a die-cut banner creates a dimensional fall card
while allowing each favorite product to have a role in the design.
