Patriotic Canvas Project

 Looking for a fun and creative way to add some red, white, and blue décor to your home this summer? Today I’m sharing a patriotic canvas created with several fabulous products from Clear Scraps!

This festive project combines shaker elements, stenciling, and die cuts to create a home décor piece perfect for Memorial Day, Independence Day, or any patriotic celebration.

The stars of this project are the Mini Shaker Flag, Mini Shaker Top Hat, and the   6″ Fireworks Splash Stencil from Clear Scraps. Together they create a vibrant design full of texture, sparkle, and patriotic charm.

Supplies Used

• Clear Scraps Mini Shaker Flag
• Clear Scraps Mini Shaker Top Hat
• Clear Scraps 6″ Fireworks Splash Stencil

• 9 x 12 inch Canvas 
• Dark blue sparkle pen
• Glitter gel pens
• Shaker sequins 
• Red, white & blue card stock
• Adhesive

Creating the Background

I began by covering the canvas with layers of red and blue card stock.

A piece of white card stock is cut as the top layer which is decorated with the Fireworks Splash Stencil. Glitter gel pens are used to trace the open areas of the stencil.

Stars punched with red glitter card stock are applied to the firework centers.

Building the Shaker Elements 

Next, I assembled the Mini Shaker Flag and Mini Shaker Top Hat following the standard Clear Scraps shaker construction process.

For both shakers, I added red and white card stock and filled the shaker compartment with blue star sequins. The clear shaker window allows the sparkling contents to move freely, creating lots of interactive fun.

Adding the Finishing Touches

Once the shaker pieces were complete, I adhered them to the canvas using strong adhesive.

The fireworks background provides the perfect backdrop for the shaker elements while reinforcing the patriotic theme.

To complete I cut letters for USA and Numbers for 1776 out of red glitter card stock and adhered to the canvas.
