Let's Create a Holiday Decor Piece

Oh it’s that time of year again! Time to think about pulling out our holiday decor.

Hey there! It’s Judy here and I am sharing my latest project for CutCardStock which is fun to put together. It is a holiday tree decor piece. I show how to create one size, but it would be easy to adapt the size and maybe create a whole grouping. And decorating the tree can be done in any color and/or theme.

Materials

KRAFT CHIPBOARD .05

DCS Green GLITTER Heavyweight 12×12 Discount Card Stock

DCS White GLITTER Heavyweight 12×12 Discount Card Stock

Lessebo Colors Premium DAWN MAROON 83lb Cardstock

Lessebo Colors HUNTER GREEN 83lb Cardstock

Bright FOIL 10 pt Cardstock 8.5×11

Poinsettia, border and circle dies

Greenery, berry sprays, mini beaded garland

Hot glue, wet glue, double sided tape

Tree Construction

Start this holiday decor project by cutting pieces for the tree. An 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of the Kraft Chipboard is cut in a triangle shape. Mark the center ( 4 1/4″) at the top of the 8 1/2″ side and cut from the lower corner to the center mark on both sides.

Lay the kraft piece onto the backside of a 12″ x 12″ piece of the Green Glitter Card Stock. Score along the three edges and fold the edges up.

Trim the card stock to about an inch all the way around. Cut diagonally on each corner.

Glue the edges to the backside of the triangle.

Cut three pieces of the Kraft Chipboard to 1″ x 4″.

Layer together with hot glue.

Glue to the backside of the tree in the center at the bottom.

Tree Decoration

I die cut three borders out of the White Glitter Card Stock. The negative pieces of the border are kept to use.

Adhere the borders and negative pieces to the front of the tree diagonally with a wet glue.

Trim the borders with the edge of the tree.

Die cut stars and circles out of the Gold Foil Card Stock to add. The small little circles are created with a hand punch.

Add these pieces to the tree.

Base Construction

We need a base to hold the tree.

Cut two pieces of Kraft Chipboard to 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″. Adhere these two pieces together.

Eight pieces of the chipboard are cut to 1″ x 4″. Glue four pieces together to form two supports. Hot glue these two pieces to the base horizontally, leaving a gap between big enough to fit the tree trunk.

Six pieces of chipboard are cut to 1″ x 2″. Adhere three pieces together to form two smaller supports. Place these two pieces vertically on top of the horizontal pieces and glue. Leave a 1″ gap between for the tree trunk.

You will hot glue the tree trunk between the support pieces.

Finishing

To finish, paint the base with white acrylic paint.

Cut a piece of White Glitter Card Stock to 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ to cover the base. Line up the 8 1/2″ side against the horizontal support pieces and mark the edges. Measure the depth of the horizontal pieces and mark on the white piece. Cut this area away.

Adhere to the base.

Start adding the greenery, covering the support pieces.

Next, die cut poinsettias and leaves.

Layer the poinsettia die cuts to form three flowers and add gold glitter dots to the centers.

Add the flowers to the base covering the supports.

Leaves help cover the supports as well.

I cut individual berries to add to the greenery.

The last step is to glue the mini bead garland around the bottom of the base.

Vintage Style Wedding Album

Hi there! I'm here today with my latest project created for Clear Scraps!

This is a vintage style wedding album which I put together
The album includes 2 acrylic pages and
2 heavy chipboard pages and measures approximately 6.75 x 8 inches.

I found a beautiful digital vintage wedding paper set on Etsy, chose which of the papers to work with, downloaded and printed.

Starting with the first page, I removed the protective coverings and applied an adhesive sheet to the backside.

Wanting to add a little color I applied a sheet of very pale yellow vellum to the adhesive.

The vellum was trimmed with scissors and a craft knife.

A template of the heart was made and I cut a frame out of a white metallic card stock and adhered over the heart area.

I pulled out the pattern paper for the front of the album.

The lower left corner was fussy cut.

Then I chose a paper for the backside of the front page, traced the fussy cut piece for the front on a corner and fussy cut.

I adhered the corner pieces to the front and backside along the bottom and right side, leaving the middle open to form a pocket.  Using the heart template a solid heart was cut and adhered to the upper left corner. A purple heart frame was cut and layered over the solid heart.

Some embellishments, die cut words were added.

I made 2 photo mats for the pocket on the backside.

Moving on to the front of the second page, I traced onto the backside of patterned paper.

Fussy cut and adhered.

I fussy cut a corner piece and adhered along the bottom and side edge and left the center open for a pocket.

A photo mat was put together to fit the pocket.

The backside of page 2 was traced onto a patterned paper, cut and adhered.

I created a triple fold piece for holding more photos. 2 pieces of card stock were scored in half. Adhering one edge of each piece together along the bottom and sides forms a pocket to hold tags for more photos or journaling. I did punch a half circle last the top of the front of the pocket.

A mat was added to the back the trifold piece and then adhered to the page.

For page 3, I removed the protective film. Patterned paper was cut and matted before adhering to each side.

For the front, I fussy cut a floral corner from another piece of patterned paper and adhered to the top right corner creating a pocket to tuck a photo. A photo mat was cut and added.

I created a pocket on the lower part of the back side. A fussy cut floral corner was added to the lower right corner. 3 photo mats were made to fit into the pocket.

The front of page 4 is covered with a solid color piece of card stock with a folded edge. I added a floral border to the left side.

2 photo mats were adhered to the left side with a little bling added.

I added a floral border to the opened right side creating a pocket to hold 2 more photo mats.

With the folded portion closed to the inside, I added another border to the right side creating another pocket. A photo mat was made to fit in the pocket.

The back of the album is covered with a matted floral paper.

The album is put together with book rings.

I added a few flowers to the front.

Ribbons were tied to the book rings to finish.

Happy Together Layout

Oh, how I love vintage photos! How about you?

They are perfect for creating a special layout project.

Hey there! Today I'm sharing my latest project for CutCardStock.

Materials

Solid Card Stock  DCS Discount Card Stock: Canvas Textured Ginger Snap Card Stock  Cougar WHITE 12 x 12 Medium to Heavyweight Discount Card Stock   Bazzill Canvas Texture 8.5×11 Monochromatic Peach (Hopi) 80lb Cardstock  Pop Tone HOT FUDGE 8.5×11 Discount Card StockPop Tone GUM DROP GREEN 8.5×11 Discount Card Stock

2 pieces of patterned card stock, flower, foliage and flourish dies, enamel dots, brown ink pad

Background

Cut a piece of the 12 x 12  Cougar White Card Stock to 11 x 11 inches.

Ink this piece of card stock with brown ink for a vintage look.

Adhere the inked card stock to a 12 x 12 inch piece of the Ginger Snap Card Stock.

Layout Components

The next step is to cut card stock to use to form the layout.

One of the pattern papers measures 7 1/2 x 7 inches and the other 4 1/2 x 7 inches. Also cut 2 pieces of the 1st pattern paper to 3/4 x 5 inches and 3/4 x 4 1/4 inches.

Cut 3 pieces of the Hot Fudge Card Stock. One measures 1 x 9 inches. The second measures 3 1/2 x 4 inches and the third should measure 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches.

A piece of the Peach Card Stock is cut to 2 x 6 1/2 inches.

Begin adding the cut pieces of card stock and the photo to the background as seen in the photos.

Die Cutting

I die cut a variety of sizes of flowers out of the Peach Card Stock. Cut out 2 different types of leaves from the Hot Fudge and Gum Drop Card Stock. The Ginger Snap Card Stock works well for for some flourishes.

Finishing

Begin adding the die cut pieces in the lower right corner.

The layout title is one from my stash and goes under the photo.

Continue adding until you are happy with placement.

I appreciate you taking the time to check out my layout project.
