Rustic Fall Home Decor Project

Bring a little vintage charm to your fall decorating with this rustic autumn home décor project featuring the Clear Scraps Large Vintage Truck Chipboard Embellishment. This classic blue pickup truck, overflowing with sunflowers and colorful fall leaves, makes the perfect centerpiece for a seasonal display.

I wanted to create something that captured the cozy feeling of a crisp fall day, so I paired the vintage truck with warm autumn colors, patterned paper, and dimensional embellishments.

Getting Started

To get started, I pulled out the Large Vintage Truck Chipboard Embellishment. This piece measures approximately 5 x 9 inches and is perfect for a fall decor project focal.

I painted the truck a soft vintage blue and added touches bronze gilding wax to give it a slightly weathered appearance.

The wheels are covered with black and silver circle die cuts.

Creating the Fall Background

For the project base, I started with a 9 x 12 inch canvas.

The edges of the canvas were painted with a bronze acrylic paint.

I chose a fall themed patterned paper, cut to 9 x 12 inches and then tore the edges to give the project some texture.

A small “fall” banner was created with card stock and die cuts.

The patterned paper was adhered to the canvas and the banner was added to the upper left corner with foam tape for a little dimension.

Before adding the truck to the background, I added small pieces of colored cardstock to the backside to fill in the open areas in the body. To add dimension behind the truck, I added a piece of folded card stock and foam tape.

Finishing Touches

Dimensional sunflower stickers and silk fall leaves were pulled out for embellishment.

To create the look of a truck filled with freshly gathered autumn treasures, I tucked colorful fall leaves into the truck bed and added a cluster of sunflowers. The combination of bright yellow sunflowers with the orange, red, and gold leaves really makes the truck pop against the darker background.

Additional fall leaves were layered around the truck and along the edges of the panel, helping to bring the background and focal point together.

This project is a great example of how a single chipboard embellishment can become the star of a home décor piece. By combining the vintage truck with patterned paper, layered leaves, flowers, and a simple banner, you can create a dimensional fall decoration with plenty of seasonal personality.

Whether displayed on a shelf, mantel, or table, this DIY fall home décor project is a fun way to welcome autumn with a little vintage truck charm!

Goth Fairy Halloween Album

Halloween is the perfect time to embrace a little bit of the dark and whimsical!  For this Clear Scraps project, I transformed a Chipboard 6 x 6 Regular Album into a  feminine Halloween keepsake featuring enchanting Goth Fairy clip art and a classic orange-and-black color palette.

I wanted this album to have a mysterious, slightly gothic feel while still being fun and whimsical. The Goth Fairy images were the perfect focal point, adding plenty of personality to each page.

Creating the Album

I began with the Chipboard 6 x 6 Regular Album from Clear Scraps. The chipboard pages provide a sturdy foundation and are perfect for creating a customized mini album for photos, journaling, or simply showcasing Halloween-themed artwork.

I also use the Imagine Chipboard Word Title as the album title. It is colored with a black Sparkle Pen.

I covered the album pages with coordinating Halloween papers, using shades of orange, black, and complementary patterns to create a cohesive look throughout the album. Layering different patterns helped add visual interest while keeping the traditional Halloween color scheme consistent.

For the focal points, I used Goth Fairy clip art, choosing images that complemented the Halloween theme. The fairies add a fun contrast to the darker colors and give the album a magical, slightly mischievous personality.

Adding the Details

Once the basic pages were covered, I added layers of Halloween-themed embellishments and decorative elements. Black accents help make the bright orange elements really stand out, while additional layers give the pages dimension.

I also carried the Goth Fairy theme throughout the album so that each page feels like part of the same story. Repeating the orange-and-black color combination and decorative elements helps tie all of the pages together.

The chipboard album is also a great size for adding favorite Halloween photographs, journaling, or even creating a themed keepsake album year after year.

A Spooky Keepsake

I love how this album combines the sturdiness of Clear Scraps chipboard with the whimsical, slightly spooky personality of the Goth Fairy artwork. The traditional Halloween colors of orange and black give it a classic seasonal feel, while the fairies add something unexpected and magical.

Whether you fill it with Halloween memories, photographs, or simply use it as a decorative mini album, this project is a fun way to celebrate the spooky season with a little Goth Fairy magic!

Vintage Inspired Printer Tray

There’s something timeless about Victorian-inspired artwork—the elegant ladies, delicate florals, ornate details, and romantic vintage imagery. Judy here and for this Clear Scraps project, I transformed a printer tray into a decorative piece that celebrates all of those beautiful elements while creating a cohesive collage of vintage-inspired scenes.

I am using the Rectangle/Square Printer Tray Frame.

Creating the Tray

I began by selecting a collection of Victorian-style images featuring elegant ladies, florals, fashion, and romantic details. I sized the images to fit the individual openings of the printer tray, creating a variety of focal points throughout the design.

The printed images were adhered to the backside of one of the the chipboard cutouts, carefully arranging them so that the larger portraits and dress form image balanced the smaller floral and text elements.

Once the images were in place, I adhered a second cutout piece on top. this second piece helps add a little depth, if wanting to add dimensional pieces. The double layered cutout piece was then adhered to the chipboard back.

I especially love the combination of the fashionable Victorian ladies with the vintage dress form and floral imagery. The printed book text in the upper center compartment adds another wonderful layer of historical character.

Finishing Tray Construction

Next, I painted the third cutout piece with a soft pink acrylic paint.

Remove the protective film from both sides the acrylic divider.

Adhere the acrylic piece to the tray. The painted cutout is added on top.

Adding the Details

For an extra touch of elegance, I added ornate gold corner embellishments to the four outside corners of the tray. The gold beautifully complements the antique feel of the Victorian artwork and provides a decorative frame around the entire piece.

Clusters of pink and cream paper flowers with greenery were placed at several of the intersections between compartments. Repeating the floral clusters helps lead the eye around the entire project while adding dimension and softness to the vintage imagery.

I also added subtle gold accents around the individual sections, with a metallic paint pen, to help define the compartments and give the finished piece a more polished, vintage appearance.

A Little Vintage Romance

One of my favorite things about altered projects is taking a functional or unfinished piece and giving it an entirely new personality. The Clear Scraps Printer Tray was perfect for this project because all of those individual compartments provide so many opportunities for creating little vintage scenes.

Rather than filling every space with embellishments, I allowed the beautiful printed artwork to remain the star of the project. The flowers and ornate corners simply enhance the imagery without overwhelming it.

The finished printer tray has a romantic Victorian parlor feel, almost like a collection of treasured photographs, fashion plates, and keepsakes gathered together in one display.

This project is a wonderful reminder that Clear Scraps pieces can be transformed into so much more than their original purpose suggests. With a few beautiful images, coordinating embellishments, and a little creativity, a simple printer tray becomes a dimensional piece of vintage-inspired home décor.

I hope this Victorian-inspired project gives you some ideas for creating your own collection of vintage treasures with Clear Scraps!

Vintage Glam Home Decor

Step back in time and add a touch of vintage elegance to your home with this décor piece featuring the Clear Scraps Medium Heart Pallet Shape. By combining patterned paper, acrylic paint, dimensional embellishments and a glamorous Roaring ’20s focal image, this project transforms a simple wood surface into a beautiful display piece that’s perfect for year-round decorating or gifting.

The Medium Heart Pallet Shape from Clear Scraps provides the perfect foundation for creating customized home décor.

I wanted this project to have a vintage, Art Deco-inspired feel, so I chose patterned papers that included a beautiful Roaring ’20s style image.

The image was fussy cut as my focal point and built the design around it with elegant embellishments.

To begin, I painted the center section of the pallet with acrylic paint to create a clean backdrop that would keep the focal image front and center.

Then I covered the top and bottom pallet sections with patterned cardstock, allowing the vintage-inspired prints to frame the design while adding visual interest.

Before adhering the Roaring ’20s image to the center panel, I added dimensional details to enhance the overall design. Soft paper flowers create texture and a romantic feel. Delicate feathers perfectly capture the glamorous fashion of the era. A pearl brad was added. I added pearls and ages to the jewelry on the image. ribbon finished off the floral bouquet.

To finish the piece, the focal image is adhered with foam tape. I added the word “Mademoiselle” and incorporated a pearl flourish which ties everything together with a touch of sophistication and sparkle.

Projects like this are a wonderful reminder of how easy it is to personalize unfinished wood surfaces with cardstock and layered embellishments. The combination of paper crafting techniques and home décor creates a unique keepsake that’s perfect for displaying on a shelf, mantel, gallery wall, or craft room.
