Purple Hippo Birthday Card

Nothing says happy birthday like candles, presents, and an adorable hippo popping in to say hello! Hey there, it's Judy V here sharing a step-by-step for my purple hippo birthday card project for Pajama Crafter Stamps.

Start the project by stamping and coloring the hippo and presents from Hippo Ho Ho Stamps.

For the sentiment I'm using one of the All Occasion Flashcards and foiling.

I cut a piece of purple card stock for my 5 x 6 1/2 inch card base. Cut silver glitter card stock to 4 3/4 x 6 1/4 inches. Emboss a piece of white card stock and trim down to about half size the card base. Trim down a piece of polkadot paper to about half the card base size and edged with silver glitter cardstock.

Die cut the sentiment flashcard with a circle die. I die cut a slightly larger circle out of silver glitter card stock. Cut purple card stock with the Circle Peek A Boo Die.

I fussy cut the hippo and present images. Die cut candles using the Bundle of Wishes Layering Die. I cut multiple times and paper pieced. Glitter gel pen adds a little extra to the candle flames.

Add the glitter card stock, white panel with embossing and polkadot paper to the card base.

Layer the circle die cut and adhere to the card.

Add the hippo, presents and candles to complete the card design.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope my Purple Hippo Birthday Card inspires you to mix textures, layers, and a little sparkle in your next birthday card!

Colorful Geometric Cards

Colorful geometric cards are simple to make and perfect for using up bold cardstock scraps. With just a few dies, textures, and sentiments, you can create eye-catching cards for almost any occasion. Judy here ready to share how to easy it is to created these cards or something similar.

Supplies

Prepare the Card Bases

Cut Cougar White Smooth CardStock 4 1/4 x 11 inches.  Lessebo Pitch Black Cardstock is cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch pieces. More Cougar White Smooth CardStock is cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches for card front.

Score the larger pieces of white Cardstock at 5 1/2 inches along the 11 inch side. Fold and burnish. This forms A2 card bases. Adhere the black mat to the card base.

Die Cut the Shapes

Using your geometric dies, cut shapes from assorted CutCardStock colors. I am using circles, squares and hexagons.

Add Texture

Run the die-cut shapes through an embossing folder to add dimension. This extra step really elevates the simple shapes and adds visual interest to the cards.

Arrange the Design

Lay the shapes onto the white card front without adhesive first.

  • Overlap pieces slightly for depth
  • Vary the angles for a more dynamic look
  • Keep the layout balanced but not perfectly symmetrical

Once you’re happy with the arrangement, adhere the shapes to the card front. Adhere card from to base.

Add the Sentiment

Choose a bold, simple sentiment to complement the geometric design. Die cut out of Lessebo Pitch Black Cardstock.

  • Position the sentiment so it overlaps the shapes slightly
  • Use foam tape if you want extra dimension

Keep the sentiment placement clean so it doesn’t compete with the colorful shapes.

Design Tip

These layouts are easy to customize by changing colors, shapes, or sentiments. They’re perfect for birthdays, celebrations, thank-you cards, or everyday greetings—and a great way to showcase the variety of cardstock colors available from CutCardStock.

Happy Wednesday!
It's time for this year's first challenge at

This year we have changed things up a little.
The theme will always be ANYTHING GOES with a twist!

This month's twist is Snowman.
I decide to use the twist for my inspiration card.

The image I'm using is from Digi Doodle Studios.

I colored with Prismacolor Pencils and fussy cut.
My background is a white embossed panel.
I added a narrow strip of patterned paper.
Snowbanls were created by hand cutting white card stock and
added a little bit of inking along the edges.
I die cut the sentiment with an older Gemini die.

Wood Love Banner

Create a charming, interchangeable wood banner perfect for Valentine’s Day, weddings, or year-round décor.  This project features soft blush tones,  stenciling, and a dimensional chipboard accent for a polished handmade look.

Clear Scraps Products

Paint the Banner Pieces

Apply an even coat of acrylic paint to all banner pieces. Let dry completely, then apply a second coat if needed for full coverage. Allow the pieces to dry thoroughly before moving on.

Stenciling

4 x 6 Love  Heart Stencil

Position your heart or decorative stencil onto 4 of the banner pieces. Using a pallet knife apply even coats of texture paste. Carefully remove the stencil and allow the designs to dry.

Focal Banner

For the center banner, add paint to the wood ring.  Paint the Love chipboard piece.

Once dry, adhere the ring to the center banner piece using wood glue.

Adhere the chipboard Love to the interchangeable wood circle.

Add Ribbon and Assemble

Thread gold ribbon through the pre-drilled holes at the top of each banner piece. Arrange the banners in your desired order and adjust spacing evenly. Tie knots or bows at the ends to secure.

Final Touches

Check for any areas that need touch-ups. Once everything is dry and secure, your banner is ready to hang on a mantel, shelf, or wall.

Finished Project

This elegant wood banner is perfect for seasonal decorating and can be easily customized by swapping out stencil designs or chipboard words. A beautiful handmade accent that adds warmth and personality to any space.

Happy crafting!
