We’re quickly approaching our next holiday, if you call it that, Valentine’s Day. Do you participate in giving cards and or gifts to your family and friends? Or do you have kids that do so?
Hey there! Today I'm sharing a Valentine Treat Holder project created for CutCardStock. These would work great for gifting Valentine candies and/or small trinkets. And they’re pretty easy to construct!
Card stock used includes:
DCS Discount Card Stock: Canvas Textured Habanero Red
DCS Red GLITTER Heavyweight 12×12 Discount Card Stock
I started by die cutting 2 hearts for each holder out of KRAFT CHIPBOARD .022. This chipboard is great for projects like this. It is really sturdy and die cuts beautifully. My hearts are approximately 4 inches in size.
Cut a strip of card stock 5 1/2 inches long by 2 inches wide. Score at 2 3/4 inches along the long side and 1/2 and 1 1/2 inches along the short side. This will give you a total width of 1 inch for your finished box. you can increase the width if you would like a wider box. Also note, that if you die cut a larger heart than I used, you may need to use a longer piece of card stock for the edges.
Cut V shaped notches on both sides of the center score mark as seen in the first photo below.
Fold on the score lines to form a V shape as seen in the second photo.
Adhere the heart die cuts to the V shaped piece along the 1/2 inch sides as seen in photo #3.
The holder is basically done at this point and it’s time to add a little decoration and a handle, if you choose to do so.
I die cut more hearts and layered to add to the front and back of each holder. You can choose to add whatever you wish.
Cut strips of card stock 11 inches long and 1 inch wide for the handles. I chose to border punch one of the handles and added a 1/4 inch strip of card stock to the center. A scallop edge was cut on one and ribbon added. The third handle is a plain strip which I added a punched strip with ribbon laced through to.
Adhere the ends of each handle to the inside of either side of the holder.
Thank you so much for taking a look at my project! I hope I’ve inspired you to try making these!
And, we would love for you to connect with us over on the CutCardStock Facebook Page and the Facebook Group Creating with Card Stock for more inspiration.
