Unconventional Christmas

52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown has a technique challenge this week.   It is to create
a fancy fold card.  This is something I haven't done before so I thought I would give it
a try.  I also wanted to join in on the Dynamic Duos color challenge this week so I'm
combining the two and therefore have an unconventional Christmas card, at least color-
wise.

Ok, I had quite a time trying to get a decent picture of this easel card and this is about
as good as it gets.  I either had too much light or not enough.  I'm sure I'm not the only
one with these issues at times!  Anyway, I used a Sizzix embossing folder, my
Spellbinders poinsettia dies and a Martha Stewart corner and border punch.  I stamped
my greeting and heat embossed it and finished off with some pearl embellishments. Thanks
for taking a look!

Mojo 316

I managed to get a third Halloween card made today.  This time I used the sketch

This is the sketch.

Here's my take on the sketch.

I embossed the orange panel with a Sizzix texturz plate and used some printed papers
from Recollection's Haunted Manor paper pad.  The Trick or Treat sticker and die cut are
also from Recollection's Haunted line.  Of course, I had to finish up with a few jewels.
Thanks for taking a look!

SSS 223

I'm really sad that The Sweet Stop challenges are coming to an end.  I have gone
to them for sketch ideas for quite a while and will miss that.  I decided to use this
week's for another Halloween card.

Here is the sketch...

and what I came up with.

I used some Recollections papers and K & Company die cuts and Fiskars border
punch.  Thanks for taking a look!

retrosketches #86

I need to get some more Halloween cards made, since I decided kinda late to make
any at all.  I saw the sketch for this week at retrosketches and thought it would be
great for one of the cards.

This is the sketch...

and my card.

I really like the way it turned out.  The colored and printed papers are from the
Recollections Haunted Manor paper pads.  The die cut tag is also from
Recollections.  I thought the black card stock needed some texture so I embossed
it with a Sizzix texturz plate.  I cut the bat out of a piece of K & Company paper
from a seasonal paper pad.  The ribbon is actually some Christmas ribbon I had sitting
around.  I finished off with a few jewels.  Thanks for taking a look!

Mojo 315

Thought the Mojo Monday sketch #315 would work well for one of the Halloween
 dazzles stickers I have.

Here's the sketch...

and what I did with it.

Love these bright colors! The solid card stocks are from Recollections Haunted paper
pad and the print is from an old K & Company Seasonal paper pad.  The haunted house
sticker is from Hot of the Press and the EEK! sticker is another Recollections item.
Thanks for taking a look!

52 CCT / FMS

Thought I would get one more post in today.  The theme challenge for October at
52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown is to "bling it up!" I do love to use bling!  So I thought
I would use the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for my bling creation.

Here's what I ended up with.

I wanted to use white and silver.  So I started with a DCWV silver shimmer  card stock and
some plain white card stock, which I wanted to emboss with a new embossing folder I
bought yesterday.  After playing around with just those solid pieces for a while I decided I
needed a print.  But I didn't have any silver and white printed paper so I used a dot
background stamp and created my own.  I die cut the snowflake with the Spellbinders
Create -A- Flake Four and the banners with the Sizzix Banners 2 set.  I added a
makingmemories deco metal sticker to the center of the snowflake and finished with some
clear crystals.  I think it turned out rather well.  Thanks for taking a look!

DD #75

I made a card yesterday afternoon after I saw the colors Dynamic Duos is using this
week.  The challenge is to use deep orange and black with an option of Halloween.

Here's what I decided to do.

I know it's not your typical Halloween card, but I don't always like to be typical.  I
sometimes like to make more elegant Halloween cards as opposed to cute or scary.
Anyway, the DP is  from the Haunted Manor mat stack by Recollections.  And I used my
EK Success acanthus border punch, which I think is kinda goth looking.  The flower is a
combination of some black paper flowers I had and I punched the orange ones.  I stamped
the greeting on a strip of card stock and used the border punch on the ends.  Finished up
with some pearls. I didn't have any orange pearls so I colored white ones with a sharpie
marker. And there you have it.  Thanks for taking a look!

DS123

Okay, I'm on a roll now with these Halloween cards.  There's a fun sketch over at
The Deconstructed Sketch so that's the one a chose to use for this card.

This is the sketch...

and here is my card.

I thought I would give the chalkboard technique that seems to be so popular right now
a try.  I bought these stamps this morning at Michaels and decided to put them together
for the focal.  Used some old K & Company papers I had along with some new
Recollections papers.  Added some purple jewel dazzles and there you have it!  Thanks for
 taking a look!

retrosketches #85

So, you know, I told myself I was not going to make any Halloween cards this year but
after making a trip to Michaels this morning I found I could not resist some of the papers,
stickers, tags and stamps they had.  And, well, Halloween cards are so fun! At least I
think they're fun.  I decided to use the sketch over at retrosketches to make the first one.

Here's the sketch...

and my take on it.

The printed papers are from Recollections Haunted Manor mat stack.  The Boo and star
stickers are from Recollections Haunted set and I die cut the ghost with a Sizzix originals
die called Ghosts #2.  Thanks for taking a look!

Mojo 314 / DD#74

This morning I've been working on a card to enter in 2 challenges.  I wanted to give the
current sketch over at Mojo Monday a try and thought I would use the color combination
at Dynamic Duos.  All this proved to be a more difficult task than I anticipated.  Why is it
some days you can make a card in no time and others you do one over and over and over?
That was my problem this morning.  I probably redid this card about 6 times and finally
decided that maybe I'm just trying too hard.  Anyway...

This is the sketch...

the color combo...

and what I ended up with.

I did some stamping, heat and dry embossing, some fussy cutting and die cutting.  I added
a little bit of smooch ink to the flower to give it a little shimmer, although you can't really
tell from the photo. And I added a few pearls.  Thanks for taking a look.

Seize the Birthday Toppings

I have one last post for today.  This time I wanted to participate in the challenge at
Seize the Birthday where there is a toppings option to use the colors of fall.

I would also like to enter this card in the Moxie Fab World Enthralled with Fall Challenge.

I've had this Rich & Spicy Autumn 3-D papier tole foil die cuts from Hot off the Press
for quite a while now and thought this challenge would make perfect use of them.  I used
some shimmer and foil card stocks along with a piece from DCWV Once Upon a Time
mat stack.  Added some glittered letters for the sentiment and gems to finish it off.  Thanks
for taking a look.

October Color Challenge 52CCT

I managed to get a second card done today.  This one is for the October color
challenge over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown.  The challenge is not to
use red or green.

I chose to go with blue and silver.

My snowflake border is from Sparkling Snowflakes 3-D Papier Tole foil die cuts from Hot
off the Press.  I use a textured royal blue card stock, a light blue shimmer card stock and a
silver metallic linen paper.  I cut a banner and added the silver Noel dazzle sticker.  It took
me several tries before I could get a photo I was somewhat happy with.  Maybe I could've
done better, but... as always thanks for taking a look!

FMS #107

This morning I made a card using this weeks sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches.

This is the sketch...

and here's what I decided to do with it.

This is probably one of the quickest cards I've ever put together.  It seems like it normally
takes me about half a day to execute something!  Anyway, I had the 3-D Papier Tole die cut
from Hot off the Press which is part of  the set called Christmas Candy and thought it
would work well for the sketch.  There are 5 layers put together with foam tape and I added
red matting behind the whole image so it would pop even more.  The printed paper is from
Recollections Garden Floral paper pad.  Thanks for taking a look!

SSS 231

I have one last, quick post for the weekend.  This one is with  a card for The Sweet Stop Sketch challenge #231.

This is the sketch...

and my card.

I used papers from 2 DCWV stacks.   The Foiled Elegance stack and the Foiled
Cardstock stack.  In addtion I used kraft and white card stock.  I stamped and heat
embossed the angel twice.  Once on the white card stock and cut out with a Sizzix framelits
die and the second time I fussy cut the angel and foam taped it on top of the first one.
I cut out a banner and used the Fiskars threading water border punch.  Thanks for taking a look!

Seize the Birthday

I wanted to make a birthday card for a co-worker so I decided to enter it in the
Seize the Birthday Anything Goes challenge.  There is an option to use 2
different ribbons , but I chose not to.

I had made another card several months ago using these same colors and the co-worker
I made this one for commented how much she liked the colors.  Hope she likes this card
as well as the other.  I used papers and the die cut label from the Chocolate Dipped
Artful Card Kit from Hot off the Press.  I added a border punched with the Fiskars
sunburst border punch, some paper roses and pearls. Thanks for taking a look!

FMS #106 / DD #73

I'm back with another Christmas card.  This time I used the sketch #106 from
Freshly Made Sketches and the color combo #73 from Dynamic Duos.

This is the sketch...

the color combo

and my rendition.

Once again I used my Spellbinders poinsettia die set.  The lacy label die I used is from Hot
off the Press.  I cut it in half in order to make it a little larger.  Added some pine sprigs
which I punched out with a Martha Stewart punch  and some pearls.  The greeting was
stamped from a Hero Arts set and heat embossed.  Thanks for taking a look!

52 CCT

Just a quick post with a card I created for the October Sketch Challenge at

Here's the sketch...

and what I came up with.

I used some paper and 3-D Papier Tole die cuts from Hot off the Press that I had from last
year's Christmas stash.  Used one of my Martha Stewart's border punches and heat
embossed my sentiment. I guess it's a little different take on the sketch but I think it
turned out okay. Thanks for taking a look!
