Watercolor Peonies

This week there's a trend challenge over at
and it's watercoloring!

Okay, so I've done a couple of watercoloring
challenges before but only playing with a
watercolor background and water color resist.
This time I thought I would give watercolor pencils a try.
I could use some more practice but I'm pretty pleased overall.

Here's a closer view.

The image I used is a free printable from
Beccy's Place (I'm linking up to her challenge).
I printed it on watercolor paper and because I was afraid the
ink would bleed went over the outlines with a Versamark pen
and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
After coloring, I fussy cut the image and then foam taped to the oval die cut.

Now I think I'll have to see what else I can find around here
 that could use some watercoloring!

Thanks for taking a look!

  3. Great card Judy, I think you've done a fantastic job with the watercolour pencils... the image looks wonderful! I like your idea of tracing over the lines and then heat embossing to prevent the ink from running, that's a great tip.
    Cheers,
    Beccy
