Colorful Geometric Cards

Colorful geometric cards are simple to make and perfect for using up bold cardstock scraps. With just a few dies, textures, and sentiments, you can create eye-catching cards for almost any occasion. Judy here ready to share how to easy it is to created these cards or something similar.

Supplies

Prepare the Card Bases

Cut Cougar White Smooth CardStock 4 1/4 x 11 inches.  Lessebo Pitch Black Cardstock is cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch pieces. More Cougar White Smooth CardStock is cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches for card front.

Score the larger pieces of white Cardstock at 5 1/2 inches along the 11 inch side. Fold and burnish. This forms A2 card bases. Adhere the black mat to the card base.

Die Cut the Shapes

Using your geometric dies, cut shapes from assorted CutCardStock colors. I am using circles, squares and hexagons.

Add Texture

Run the die-cut shapes through an embossing folder to add dimension. This extra step really elevates the simple shapes and adds visual interest to the cards.

Arrange the Design

Lay the shapes onto the white card front without adhesive first.

  • Overlap pieces slightly for depth
  • Vary the angles for a more dynamic look
  • Keep the layout balanced but not perfectly symmetrical

Once you’re happy with the arrangement, adhere the shapes to the card front. Adhere card from to base.

Add the Sentiment

Choose a bold, simple sentiment to complement the geometric design. Die cut out of Lessebo Pitch Black Cardstock.

  • Position the sentiment so it overlaps the shapes slightly
  • Use foam tape if you want extra dimension

Keep the sentiment placement clean so it doesn’t compete with the colorful shapes.

Design Tip

These layouts are easy to customize by changing colors, shapes, or sentiments. They’re perfect for birthdays, celebrations, thank-you cards, or everyday greetings—and a great way to showcase the variety of cardstock colors available from CutCardStock.
